The Darn Brick Wall

British Hound on a Sniffing Mission to Belgrade
Although the heads of the few Western European states and the U.S. State Department show no intention whatsoever to back off and reconsider their fanatical pursuit of dismembering Serbia by seizing its southern Kosovo-Metohija province, even if they keep running into a wall, careful observers cannot help but notice that announced Kosovo independence is drifting further and further away.
The latest “envoy” who came to Belgrade to sniff the behinds of the members of just elected government, in hope of detecting a giveaway squeal-fart that would indicate certain Serbian representatives could be pressured/cajoled/bribed into signing Serbian Jerusalem away is, naturally, a Brit — Political Director at the British Foreign Office Mark Lyall Grant — a hound’s hound.
Grant sniffed around Serbia’s new Vice Premier Bozidar Djelic and the new Foreign Affairs Minister Vuk Jeremic with special care and attention. He said that “Great Britain strongly supports Serbia’s approaching the EU and it will continue offering assistance to the Serbian government in the realization of its goals,” AND that Great Britain equally strongly supports severing of Serbian Kosovo-Metohija province. He did not say the two are connected and interrelated, but that’s precisely the message Serbs got.
Another coercion method Grant generously applied was the most common one — bluff. According to Tanjug, Grant “voiced belief that the UN Security Council had the necessary majority for the adoption of a new resolution which would ensure independence for Kosovo,” adding that it is a question of weeks when the new resolution paving the way for amputation of Serbian province will be adopted, Russians or no Russians. So, if they do have “the necessary majority” in the UN SC as they claim and can adopt the resolution today, why don’t they?
Germans Expect G-8 Summit to Achieve what Rice and EU Could Not
Meanwhile, equally rabidly anti-Serbian German Foreign Ministry announced Kosovo-Metohija will be one of the main topics of the G-8 summit of the foreign ministers, to be held in Potsdam, close to Berlin, on May 30. According to the German media this meeting, to be attended by the foreign ministers of Russia, France, Britain, Italy, USA, Canada, Japan and Germany, should “clarify certain topics” that will be in the focus of the G-8 heads of state and government scheduled to meet a week later in the German north Sea resort of Heiligendamm.
German state agency DPA is certain that these meetings will “give an impulse to the resolution of the Kosovo issue,” and are confident in their assessment that “for Washington, as well as for the German EU Presidency, the course for the Kosovo issue is clear — there is no alternative to Ahtisaari’s plan.”
Separatists Will Have to Face Disappointment
In another part of the world, however, things don’t appear as clear and certain any longer. Tanjug reports that Albanian-language separatist media from Kosovo-Metohija province assessed on Tuesday that Pristina would have to face “disappointing news” about the province’s future.
Koha Ditore daily reported on the warning by British publicist and major Serbophobe Tim Judah that neither the visit of US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice to Moscow, nor the Russian-European Union summit had resulted in an agreement. Speaking for the Pristina secessionist daily, Judah remarked that war criminal Ceku had begun preparing his followers for “a possible postponement” of the decision on Kosovo-Metohija status.
Unlike his MI6 Big Brother Grant, Judah was paying attention and pointed to the fact that the United States had given up on its previous promise of unilateral recognition of this part of Serbia’s territory as an independent state.
Another Albanian secessionist daily Kosova Sot also points to the possibility that the solution be postponed. “What follows is disappointing news on Kosovo status,” the separatist daily reported, adding that the decision on status might be postponed due to Russia’s efforts to prevent severing the part of Serbian territory.
Are Albanians turning smarter than the Germans? It could be, all that head-banging into a brick wall must’ve done some serious damage, killing at least few irreplaceable braincells.
Pro-American or Fanatical, Armed and Dangerous?
In her latest analysis published in FrontPage Magazine, Balkan expert Julia Gorin exposes the dangerous illusion fomented in United States about alleged Albanian Muslim pro-Americanism. Article titled “The ‘Pro-American’ Terrorists” reveals not only the wide-spread deception of the mass media which shreds and forgets its earlier reports with a terrifying ease, but also the stupendous insistence on rose-coloring the reality even when it threatens to bite one’s face off.
Julia’s latest Glob article is a prime demonstration of the points made in “The ‘Pro-American’ Terrorists,” showing how the Albanian monster proudly posing on this (gruesome) photo with severed Serbian heads didn’t think twice about spreading the same brand of love to the West.

At its best, the G-8 summit is a mere trade discussion/fair attended by folks who get to travel someplace new and get treated like "KINGS AND QUEENS". Sort of a vacation/re-union for politicians. It is still, mostly all about making BIG-MONEY for their own countries and THEMSELVES!!
I know that sometimes they "discuss" unpleasant things like war, crime and so forth. The attendees want the folks at home to get the impression that their "leaders" are on a working trip!! But still, it's mostly a money-making trade mission and loads o' fun and tasty-yummy food for the attendees.
So I am trying to figure out, HOW much money the countries attending are planning to make off small Kosovo??? How's about none.
Is a small place like Kosovo, in a relatively small country, so important in the BIG money scheme of things discussed at the G-8 Summit? In comparison to the needs of the EU countries to get MORE and cheaper oil and gas outta' Russia, Kosovo is indeed a "small potatoes" issue.
I think all the strong rhetoric from the German politicians( and other Western "leaders") sounds more and more like they are trying to convince the Albanians in Kosovo that the Western leaders are doing ALL they can to remove Kosovo from Serbia. And it WILL BE the Russians( and maybe China) who haved stop them.
The Western "leaders" can then whine, "It was ALL the Russians fault. Certainly NOT ours. We did EVERYTHING we could, and gosh oh! Golly!! We are sure real sorry about this. Please don't blame us! Don't kill us, ok?".
All this said, while wringing their hands and hanging their heads.
And, meanwhile the "sink-meister" and cigar loving "liberator" Clinton gets a statue of himself in Kosovo! LOL!!

Don't like the idea of Kosovo being called "Serbian" Jerusalem". Are we trying to send a message that Serbs occupied Kosovo? Wrong. Completely wrong.

Singing, you are right, Serbian Kosovo-Metohija is nothing to those who want to seize it but a patch of dirt. The only importance Kosovo has to trolls like Abramowitz is to create a precedent that would allow them to redraw the world map to their liking and create a total chaos, where certain powers would be indisputable rulers. If such a thing can be achieved with small Serbia, tomorrow it will be possible to do the same with big ones, like China, and overnight that "threat" (perceived or real) would have been annulled, because instead of one big, strong country, you would have ten or fifteen small ones you can overtake one after another. Kosovo-Metohija is real only to Serbs and to Albanians, to everybody else it's nothing more than a tool, means to a much more important goal for which all the wars of aggression in human history were fought for: domination.
Joe, one would really think that at least after 9/11 the main conclusion would be NOT TO IMPORT THEM. I must say I have difficulties understanding certain policies, unless the idea is to actually destabilize and destroy US too, from within, since it cannot be done from the outside.
Alex, I'm not sure I understand what you are saying. The very name of Jerusalem does not suggest occupation, but the Holy Land: "If I forget you, O Jerusalem, may my right hand forget its skill. May my tongue cling to the roof of my mouth if I do not remember you, if I do not consider Jerusalem my highest joy" - this is what Kosovo and Metohija is to Serbs, with the Seat of Serbian Orthodox Church from 13th century and with Vidovdan ethics and obligation (Vidovdanski Zavet). It is something that can't be sold or traded, it is the reason we are who we are. I don't see how any negative connotations can come out of calling Kosovo-Metohija "Serbian Jerusalem", because simply that is the significance that piece of land has for us. And if it could be misconstrued to mean occupation, then I think Reuters, AFP, DPA and AP scribes would be using it all the time. So far, I haven't seen one article by any of those agencies using the term.

Some people, in Arabic world, may associate Jerusalem with Israel and therefore with occupation. Can't imagine why Reuters would get involved in it seeing how Paul Julius Baron von Reuter was in fact Jewish ;)

Calling Kosovo-Metohija "Serbian Jerusalem" could be a turnoff for the Arabs who were beheading Serbs in Bosnia and Kosovo, for those who were shipping weapons to Bosnian and Albanian Muslims, for the ones who financed their jihad against Serbs, or for those who lobby for Kosovo secession?
Since Serbs remain one of the most maligned and hated nations (alongside Jews) no matter what they say and do, perhaps they should stop walking on eggshells and fearing their own shadow in hope to appease just about everyone in every way. We get barfed at when we win a Eurovision Song Contest, let alone when we fight in a war! The least we could do for our self-respect is to show some faith, have the courage to call the things by their name and let the rest of the world decide which side they want to be on.

By calling Kosovo "Serbian Jerusalem" aren't we already trying to appease one side over the other.
Let's not forget how many Jews were in Clinton administration during Nato's illegal bombing of Serbia. Google the list. They openly supported Albanian Muslims over Christian Serbs.
Yes, jihad fighters beheaded Serbs in Bosnia and Kosovo (and Croatia) but, again, would this be possible at least to the same extent if not for the American (and Jewish-American) support of (always) the other side?

I agree with Svetlana Kosovo-Metohija - ("Serbian Jerusalem") is not negative but merely a comparison to how important Kosovo-Metohija really is to Serbs, granted its not some oil rich land with vast resources...apart from coal and silver deposits all located in Serb dominated areas. But its importance is deeper than merely money, I wouldn't call it the "heart of Serbia" but it is a extremely sacred and important part of Serbia and Serbian history.
I don't think Serbia would make such a strong defense for Kosovo-Metohija if it did not contain any real historical significance or the thousands of centuries old Churches or of course the Serbs living there, I mean lets face it Kosovo is ruined and infested...at least 90% anyway, so much so that I wonder sometimes if it would hurt us more to keep it.
Svetlana I absolutely agree that there is a comparison of Serbs and Jews (Israelites) are viewed in the world.
I have so much respect for Israel, that should they ever request assistance from Serbia...be it military or not Serbia should absolutely come to her aide. Israel can be a powerful ally and indeed it is, I remember Israel giving support to Serbia not long ago when our foreign minister visited Israel. You can see a connection between the two, both are surrounded by countries who have a strong grudge....perhaps of jealousy, I can see no other reason. And both have a split the world with one half loving us and the other hating.
The whole "occupation" idea is wrong in my mind, Israel did not and does not occupy its current land,Look how many nations and land there is for Arabs to live and then look at Israel... should you roll Israel into a ball, it would be no larger than Kosovo itself.
The G-8 summit is a waste of time, rather than have the people who will live or leave Kosovo they have people who have nothing to do with it or know anything for that matter.

Well, Alex, I already explained the context in which I use the term: Jerusalem is not synonymous with either occupation or appeasement, it represents Holy Land to people of all three major faiths. So, no, we are not trying to appease Jewry by calling Kosovo-Metohija Serbian Jerusalem, nor are we trying to irk Arabs or Muslims in general. Bishop Artemije is the most prominent Serbian representative who uses the term and I sincerely doubt he does it in order to appease one side and irritate the other.
I don't have anything more to say on the subject. I view the term only as an expression of the way Serbs generally relate to Kosovo-Metohija, and I don't like the idea of censoring our metaphors for the sake of others. Since you think it should not be used because of the negative impact it could have on Arabs, I assume you don't use it and that's perfectly fine with me.

Dimitirije, I think your thoughts on "look how many land there is for others to live on..." could be applied for any conflict, anywhere in the world. To justify illegal occupation of Kosovo-Metohija Albanians might argue the same thing. Look how many land there is for Serbs to live on, look how big Serbia is compared to Albania, yet the number of Serbs decreases steadily each year while Albanian's have the biggest birth rate in Europe. Even Germany is worried about it's declining birth rate but Serbia doesn't seem to care. Indeed if Kosovo was to remain in Serbia (which, if reason prevails, it will), and the population growth/decline remained the same, Serbs would be a minority in their own country in the next 65 years. As for Serbia assisting Israel militarily, didn't we assist Slovenia and Croatia in their struggle to free themseleves from slavery? Slovenes even pleaded with Chetniks for help. Look how great that turned out. But people wishing for Serbs to die in battles that aren't ours to fight will soon enough have their wish; when Serbia joins NATO we'll have Serb soldiers dying in Afghanistan but no Serbs in Kosovo.
