HRH Crown Prince Alexander: Kosovo is Serbia

King Peter I
Serbia’s King Peter I has liberated Kosovo-Metohija province from foreign occupation — how many more times does it have to be liberated?

HRH Crown Prince Alexander: Kosovo-Metohija is Serbia

His Royal Highness Crown Prince Alexander II strongly supports the stands about the future of the Serbian province of Kosovo and Metohija taken by the National Assembly, the President of the Republic and the Premier of Serbia, and protests energetically against statements and plans which violate Serbia’s state sovereignty and belittle Serbian people’s historical, moral and cultural heritage. They also grossly violate the very foundations of the international law.

Crown Prince Alexander would like to remind everyone that Kosovo and Metohija were liberated from foreign occupation by his ancestors, King Peter I and King Alexander I, and that democracy and freedom cannot be built on a denial of history, on injustice and the lack of human compassion.

The common way towards a united Europe is the same for Serbia and for Kosovo and Metohija within Serbia. For this reason no one should try today to separate something which is inseparable using the pretext that all will be together again eventually.

Regaining the Freedom

Writing about the significance Kosovo-Metohija has had for Serbs through centuries in “The Kosovo Legacy,” Thomas Emmert cites Serbian soldier sent, under His Majesty King Peter I, to liberate the province:

“My God, what awaits us! To see a liberated Kosovo. The words of the commander were like music to us and soothed our souls like a miraculous balsam. The single sound of that word ‘Kosovo’ caused an indescribable excitement. [...] When we arrived on Kosovo and the battalions were placed in order, our commander spoke: ‘Brothers, my children, my sons!’ His voice breaks. ‘This place on which we stand is the graveyard of our glory. We bow to the shadows of fallen ancestors and pray God for the salvation of their souls.’ His voice gives out and tears flow in streams down his cheeks and gray beard and fall to the ground. [...] The spirits of Lazar, Milos, and all of the Kosovo martyrs gaze on us. We felt strong and proud, for we are the generation which will realize the centuries-old dream of the whole nation: that we with the sword will regain the freedom that was lost with the sword.”

The year was 1912 and Serbia fought against foreign occupation in the Balkan Wars.

If Serbia is ever to become a Kingdom again, then the heir to the throne should definitely act like it. This is a good first step :)
