West Attempts to Push Delayed Kosovo Independence Through the UN Security Council

From West with love

Another Rotten Egg for Serbs

The US and European Union distributed Wednesday in the UN a new, third draft resolution on Serbian Kosovo-Metohija province, basically the same as the previous two U.S. State Department drafts, with the only difference of proposing to delay severing of the province for another four months.

The main purpose of such resolution and the reason it is being enforced with such stubborn persistence is to annul the currently binding UN Security Council Resolution 1244 which reaffirms Serbia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty over Kosovo-Metohija province. The second thing it aimed to accomplish was to officially end the UN mandate in Kosovo-Metohija, opening the door for the EU to take over, securing over 1,600 nice & clean administrative jobs for its otherwise entirely unemployable pen-pushers and parasites, while NATO forces would remain in the province.

The 120-days delay, during which Serbs would be expected to submit to another round of fake negotiations with Albanian terrorists, separatists, drug dealers, human traffickers and war criminals, is a smokescreen that was supposed to trick Russia and Serbia into stepping over the edge. Because the new draft also stipulates that, in case Belgrade and Pristina still disagree after four months, as expected, the original Ahtisaari plan of “supervised independence,” i.e. severing of the Serbia’s territory would kick in, as planned some ten or more years ago.

Kostunica: Serbia Won’t Change Its Position

Which prompted Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica to remind the architects of the plan that any draft resolution based on the implementation of Ahtisaari’s plan is doomed to failure, adding that “any attempt to hide the project of the province’s independence behind the idea of putting off the resolution for a few months is unacceptable.”

“Whether tomorrow or within several months, Serbia will with the same and even greater resolve defend its principled policy of the respect of international law, UN Charter and Serbian Constitution,” stressed the Prime Minister.

Kostunica said that if there is good will to talk, new negotiations may begin tomorrow, and it is absolutely unnecessary to adopt a new resolution in order to renew the talks.

“If the aim of a new resolution is to hold new talks but only so as to try and squeeze through Kosovo’s postponed independence, I am completely certain the Security Council will reject any such resolution,” said the Prime Minister.

Russia: Stop Trying to Fool Us

Seeing through another Western smoke-and-mirrors act, Russia has rejected the new U.S./EU draft resolution in the UN today.

“We will not work on this draft,” the Russian UN Ambassador Vitaly Churkin said. “We continue to maintain our position stated in the document that is sitting on the UN Security Council’s table.”

“The new draft of the Kosovo resolution brings us no closer to a platform that could be used to reach an agreement,” the diplomat said, adding that it was still a positive step because it showed that the West agreed with the necessity to continue talks on the issue of the southern Serbian province.

Russia’s permanent UN representative pointed out that the Security Council finds itself in such a complicated situation because of the “promises given many years ago and recently repeated” which, according to Ambassador Churkin, “certainly isn’t helping us reach the just and sustainable solution.”

Serbian government welcomed Russia’s decision to reject the new Western draft resolution on Kosovo-Metohija province.

“This is the continuation of a principled policy and cooperation between Belgrade and Moscow, based on the respect for international law and the UN Charter,” said Media Advisor to the Serbian Prime Minister Srdjan Djuric.

Yes, because East is stupider than West (by proxy) and it will be easily tricked. What kind of retards work in US / EU?

While on that note, if you would like to see first hand what kind of competent people work in EU, you can find some of your info here, http://fr.youtube.com/watch?v=7SFx2R9JwHE

This is very insulting. They are making matters just worse by doing this. Especially with the Russians, and Putin.

The vernacular of some prominent Western personalities directed at the Russians and Putin in particular, is pointing to a jittery mood amongst them. Whether they believe that they will intimidate Putin with their attitude or they are plain simply overtaken with panic will soon be evident, my guess is the latter is the case.

Pushy buggers, no doubt about that! I'm only surprised with the fact they seem to think it is possible to achieve anything with so much naked arrogance, crude trickery and belligerence... astounding lack of skill and subtlety... or is it brains?

Definitely lack of brains?

Grey matter shortage has reached critical stage in hubris laden political elite of the West.

Having followed with huge interest the plight of the Serbian people for years and having a great love for the Serbs, I really feel the need to say that since 1991 nothing has made a bit of sense in that part of Europe but frankly the destruction / independence of Kosovo and Metohija would just throw the entire world in the dump because anyone could tear apart a country's borders overnight. I am delighted to see that so many Serbs still fight this obscenity but I'm afraid it's not enough... :(

What can I say, Marco, you are right - it is far from enough.

We seem to have a problem to learn how the Western media operates and how to use it to our advantage. Everyone in the former Yugoslavia does it better then Serbs: Croats, Slovenians, Bosnian and Kosovo-Metohija Muslims; while Serbs keep trying to play fair and hope the rest of the world will realize what's going on. Nothing's fair in being exterminated and in losing one's country, and it certainly can't wait for someone else to finally understand the injustice of it.

But I also think it is important to understand whom are we really going against here. I just watched again the three-hour documentary "Yugoslavia, an avoidable war". Towards the end of Part 2 one of the foreign experts interviewed, commenting NATO bombardment of Serbia says that this was essentially a conspiracy whereby 19 richest, most powerful Western states united to bomb Serbia into submission, to enforce a regime change and occupy one part of its territory; so, he says "they know what they did," they are fully aware that what they have done is entirely criminal and unjustifiable, and they know that only by staying united, by standing together on this issue they can continue to pretend that they acted in the name of "humanitarian concerns" and "justice".

So, our present-day Battle for Kosovo is immeasurably harder than the 1389 one - instead of having to ward off one powerful empire, the Ottoman, we are faced with the alliance of 19 powerful empires which feel they must wrestle that piece of land from Serbia, in order to keep covering up their own crimes. That is a very difficult battle.

Still, today as 600-plus years ago, Holy Tzar Lazar remains a measure according to which the present generations of Serbs will also be evaluated, want it or not, like it or not. That is our Cross. May God help us bear it with honor and dignity.

Not everything that is being done is visible on the surface. As Svetlana points out this is a much more complex scenario than ever before. The Serb fury at the blatant attempt to illegally confiscate its most holy territory is not expressed in open rage and attacks on the innocent people of any nationality but rather in an unending endeavour of foiling the mad land-grabbing which is akin to cattle rustling of yesteryear.

Despite all the suffering and injustice inflicted upon them, Serbs are conscious of the possibility that a small miscalculation is capable of turning Kosovo conflict into a much wider conflagration. The fine line between protecting its territories and enmeshing other nations into it is almost invisible, but Serbs are first and foremost very caring people and would not deliberately use their suffering to harm others.
