Goodbye and Good Riddance, Michael Polt!

American psyops

Polt’s Last Charade

The outgoing U.S. Ambassador to Serbia Michael Polt, King of Arrogance and Conceit, has managed to put a foot in his mouth once again, at his last public performance in Belgrade’s Fine Arts Center where the Soros-funded “Independent Journalists’ Association of Serbia” (NUNS) organized his speech.

In his memorable mudslinging style, Mr Serbs-Can’t-Wait-To-See-His-Back expressed his “disappointment for not being able to give a lecture at the Belgrade Faculty of Political Science,” explaining that he was “not allowed to speak there because the school was wary of a negative reaction from the Serbian Government if the speech was attended by journalists.”

Since the Serbs are already familiar with Polt’s fertile imagination, it came as no surprise when the faculty issued a statement revealing that Polt’s claims are entirely false. The fact of the matter is that the Faculty of Political Science invited Polt to give a lecture for students of specialized U.S. studies on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Marshall Plan. Polt accepted the invitation, but demanded to have media present during his lecture along with the students.

Taken aback by such request which shows that the university would be misused as the U.S. Ambassador’s personal soapbox for his political agenda, the faculty rejected Polt’s demand for media attending the event, stating that it was unusual to have media present at such seminars.

“The faculty did not in this or any other instance prevent the American Ambassador from saying what he thinks needs to be said. All we wanted to do was to make sure that no one politicized the lecture,” a statement from FPN said, adding that the faculty also told the American embassy that Polt would be able to address the media after the lecture.

PSYOPS Polt’s Way

So, having his soapbox moved over to a much more cherished audience consisting solely of media representatives, U.S. Ambassador wasted no time in cheerfully kicking the Marshall Plan to the curb — who gives a damn about that! Instead, Polt used all his formidable put-down skills to inform the Serbs one last time of their utter insignificance and futility of their struggle to preserve Kosovo province within Serbia.

He opened the sermon with a claim that Serbian province of Kosovo-Metohija, contrary to what the Serbs believe, is rather unimportant — so much so that at the meeting between Presidents Putin and Bush scheduled for July 1, it surely won’t be among the top subjects of the conversation.

Unbeknownst to Polt, on the very same day CIA’s own loudspeaker, Stratfor, in the article titled “A return to Kosovo” directly contradicted Polt’s claims, saying that “although Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President George W. Bush will have several important items on their plate at their July 1-2 meeting in Maine, the main topic will be Kosovo.”

But being that Polt’s job never was related to truth and common decency in any way and, instead, represents a highly focused PSYOPS assignment, where the aim is to confuse, demoralize and detract, the facts really are unimportant. Besides, Polt is obviously so sure of Serbs’ complete inferiority, that he confidently assumes the only statements that count are those coming from his mouth: which Serb has ever heard of Stratfor and who among the Serbs is ever gonna know what they say?!

He went on to drive home the point: Kosovo-Metohija province is already lost to Serbs, Ahtisaari’s $50M plan for “supervised independence” is already a compromise (probably between Albanians and Albanians, or between Bush and Bush), Serbs are losers, let go, give up give up give up give up give up....

The Most Beautiful Words Ever Uttered by an American Ambassador

In an attempt to simulate an argument — for the lack of a real one — Polt resorted to some very bad, dangerous bluffing: “What if we were to tell you today that we were wrong and that Kosovo is yours, and that we are withdrawing our forces from Kosovo by Saturday. What then?!”

To which Serbian government spokesman Srdjan Djuric responded immediately, stating that US Ambassador to Serbia Michael Polt (finally!) “made an interesting suggestion,” which the Serbian government is prepared to discuss: that the United States wants to withdraw from Kosovo-Metohija.

Serbian Government: Excellent Suggestion!

“This is the first time that the Serbian government has heard an interesting new suggestion, voiced by US Ambassador Michael Polt, that the United States wants to withdraw from Kosovo and accept that Kosovo remain an integral part of Serbia,” Djuric said.

“The Serbian government is prepared to discuss this suggestion with US officials,” Djuric said.

So far, neither Polt, nor the U.S. State Department has responded to the latest invitation by the Serbian government to discuss U.S. Ambassador’s proposal for American withdrawal from the southern Serbian province.

Comments

The subterfuge coming out of U.S. Ambassador to Serbia Michael Polt big mouth is intriguing, but could be an option being explored by the U.S. and their Albanian friends. The number one Serb hater currently Tom Lantos D-Calif., and House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman and his close ally Rep. Eliot Engel, D-N.Y., said the United States supported the U.N. plan for Kosovo independence drawn up by Finnish diplomat and former President Martti Ahtisaari.

While Russia and Serbia have said all along that Martti Ahtisaari plan for Kosovo is unacceptable to both Serbia and Russia. The International Law is on the side of Serbia and no power on earth can change that.

[…]“A sound legal rationale for independence does not exist. The most frequently parroted argument has been that the Albanians constitute 90% of the Kosovo population. This argument, however, has no legal standing as the international law does not recognize the right of self-determination in the form of secession of an administrative unit. In addition to the Helsinki Final Act, which prohibits secession, the EU, in the principal statement of its Badinter Committee, follows the Montevideo Convention in its definition of a state: by having a territory, a population, and a political authority. Obviously, the Kosovo Albanians do not satisfy these criteria.”
[…]
“The NATO bombing campaign did not result in an unconditional surrender, because of the determination of the Serbian people to defend its territory, but in a negotiated settlement reflected in UN Security Council (UNSC) Resolution #1244. The resolution established Kosovo as a UN protectorate and created the UN Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK) on an indefinite basis. Maintaining a secure environment has been assigned to NATO’s multinational force called KFOR (Kosovo Force). Russia and China opposed rewarding the Kosovo Albanians with independence fearing that the Western powers could use the Kosovo precedent to weaken their own countries by various Muslim separatist movements inside their countries. Hence, the political status was left unresolved. In the resolution the terms “substantial autonomy” and the sovereignty of Yugoslavia (now Serbia) are each mentioned three times. The terms “self-determination” and “independence” are not mentioned once.”

"If you have negotiations than you should not say in advance what the result will be," said Karel de Gucht, Belgium's foreign minister and this month's council president.

The above supports Russian and Serbian stance that the Martti Ahtisaari, plan for Kosovo is now officially dead. The U.S., EU and the staunchest backers of ethnic Albanians are looking for loopholes in order to circumvent International Law.

"We will solve the (Kosovo) problem either via the United Nations," said Lantos, "or the Kosovars will declare their independence unilaterally.

"I can assure you the following day, the United States will recognize Kosovo as an independent country, as will the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Holland, Denmark and all the others."

Which supports former U.S. Ambassador to Serbia Michael Polt suggestion: “What if we were to tell you today that we were wrong and that Kosovo is yours, and that we are withdrawing our forces from Kosovo by Saturday. What then?!”

That is very easy; warn the neighboring countries that 1.2 million Albanians are heading their way in masse.

See Djuric says polt's suggestion is interesting

That would explain why U.S. kept KLA intact and transposed them into the Kosovo Protection Corps, armed and trained them. Perhaps some in the U.S. believe that their proxy army (KLA headed by Lieutenant General Agim Çeku) could finish the ethnic cleansing of Kosovo if the Albanians unilaterally declared independence, U.S. would be removed from the area, so as not to appear bias and that they are not supporting this action, possibly?

Why did the U.S. need to build the biggest base since Vietnam War to impose a peace in Kosovo? Imagine a base costing 36.6 million U.S. dollars, which covers 755 acres? Now since the U.S. spent all that money and has built literally a small town on 755 acres, they do not plan to go anywhere anytime soon. What is the U.S. up to? I do not think that the EU knows why the U.S. built Camp Bondsteel? Now it smells like the U.S. head a different plan for the future of Kosovo altogether, what that is might come to light very soon.

See Camp Bondsteel

So we will have to wait until July 1-2 meeting in Maine between Bush and Putin to see what will be the Kosovo solution or if there will be a Kosovo solution. Or is the outcome of this meeting going start a new cold war, we can only guess, but the above are some interesting observations.

These are some excellent observations - I must admit I'm entirely impressed by people taking time to comment here: most of you guys could teach politics to a number of current "diplomats"!

Alfred, if you have time to put together an entry out of this, I'll publish it here (you can email it to me directly).
