Serbia Calls an Urgent UN Security Council Session
Serbia on Tuesday called for an urgent session of the UN Security Council to discuss the situation regarding Western intention to dismember Serbia, by forcibly severing its southern province of Kosovo and Metohija.
In a letter to the president of the 15-member council, Serbia's Ambassador to the United Nations Pavle Jevremovic urged it to consider the grave situation in the Serbian Kosovo province where an illegal unilateral declaration of independence by Kosovo Albanian separatists was announced to follow soon.
According to the reports, Jevremovic said he was instructed by his government to request the council to "consider an extremely grave situation in the Serbian province of Kosovo and Metohija where we witness the final preparatory activities for a unilateral declaration of the independence ..."
“Such a move would constitute a violation of UN Security Council resolution 1244 and the territorial integrity of Serbia and endanger the maintenance of international peace and security,” Serbia's UN ambassador said.
Reuters quoted Russian Ambassador to the United Nations Vitaly Churkin as confirming that Russian Federation will back Serbia's initiative. At the same time, Reuters reported that "British and U.S. envoys said they knew nothing about the request".
Parts of Serbia May Become an “EU Issue” Only when Serbia Becomes EU Member
Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Tuesday that determination of the status of Kosovo and Metohija province is squarely within the jurisdiction of the United Nations Security Council, and warned that a unilateral proclamation of the independence of the southern Serbian province could lead to the collapse of the European project.
“Russia will agree that the question of Kosovo is a matter for the European Union only when all of the Balkans, including Serbia within its present borders, is integrated within the Union,” Lavrov said in Geneva, as carried by the Itar-Tass news agency.
“However, for the time being, Kosovo is still an international issue that remains within the authority of the UN Security Council,” Russian minister said.
“The UN Security Council alone has universal jurisdiction and there can be no arbitrary approaches,” Lavrov said.
Return to Dark Ages
“Unilateral proclamation of the independence of this province will inflict damage to the reputation of the UN Security Council and to its authority, and that should be clearly understood,” Lavrov said, adding that any moving away on behalf of Europe from the principle of international legality would imply unpredictable consequences for the entire continent.
“Resolving the destinies of nations, by proceeding exclusively from the motive of alleged solidarity or some other political purpose, would in essence mark a return to the dark ages,” the Russian foreign minister said.
“It will be sad if the future historians point that the unilateral proclamation of the independence of Kosovo marked the beginning of the downfall of the current European project,” he said.
“For its part, Russia has done everything possible on the issue of Kosovo, but it will not take part in the undermining of the legal foundations of modern Europe by undermining the UN Charter,” Lavrov said.
“Last year, the mediating troika comprised of representatives of the EU, Russia and the United States of America, did not achieve poor results in the establishment of direct negotiations between Belgrade and Pristina,” Lavrov said, explaining that “there were concrete proposals for the status and it would be wrong to forcefully halt that process.”
Earlier today, the chief of Russian diplomacy was quoted as saying that a unilateral declaration of the province's independence by its ethnic Albanians would threaten the security of Europe itself.
Foreign Minister Lavrov also repeated Russian Federation's position that Serbian province can in no way be treated as a unique case.
"It is a question of undermining the foundation of international law, all the principles Europe worked so hard to establish, at the price of wars, sacrifices and bloodshed and put at the core of its existence, the principles on which OSCE rests, principles that are embedded in the U.N. Charter," Lavrov told a Tuesday press conference in Geneva.
"I sincerely fail to comprehend the principles guiding our American colleagues, and those European [countries] who have taken up this position," he added.
Absolutely Unacceptable Double Standards
Lavrov went on to say that a large number of countries, including some in Europe, have said it is quite unavoidable for a unilateral declaration of independence to take place, and that they would support it.
"I see that many have not managed to grasp the most basic things, because what they are talking about is the breakup of the legal order in Europe," Lavrov noted.
He added that southern Serbian Kosovo province cannot be treated as a special case and that there was an "absolute double standard" when it comes to explanations that "Kosovo is a unique case, and that it in no way influences the situation in other regions".
Since it has been argued that Serbs and Albanians "cannot live in the same state", Lavrov wondered what will happen to the remaining Serbs in Kosovo-Metohija:
"They are saying that Serbs and Albanians cannot live together, and that this is why Kosovo needs to be separated from Serbia, but there are Serbs living in Kosovo as well."
"If one were to accept this thesis, what happens to the Serbs in Kosovo? There are no answers to these questions. Absolutely, double standards," Lavrov said, stressing that the whole Western design in case of the Serbian province is entirely unacceptable and irresponsible.

Fear or just no spine?, we will see what ban kai moon and anyone else in the UN is going to do. russia is correct in backing srbija, of course they never report that china a long time russian ally also stands behind srbija. so they need to fix this before another war breaks out in the balkans, and this like the previous wars of the 90`s has nothing what so ever to do with RACE. But everything to do with relgion. trying to appease the muslim masses with this land grab will not suit the islamic hordes. they cannot care one way or another, they will never stop until they destroy everything non muslim. reap what you sow empire, as 9/11 should have shown you. no matter what you do they will still attack you, some of the 9/11 hijackers were in bosnia. why do you think they cant find osama bin laden?. because you can never find someone if you dont look for them. kosovo is srbija. it has always been serbian land, watch as people in the USA start doing the same thing. may god save the serbs who belive in freedom and the right to be free. the others can take their chances with the EU empire(4th 5th reich)

There is a double standard here - especially in the UK.
Do you remember what happened when Ian Smith's Rhodesia made a UDI?
If that was wrong, how can this be right?
More and more people are coming to see that Serbia has been wronged. Hold fast - we are going to need you in the struggle against Islam (and the EU).

Well perhaps thinking Kosovo a done deal they are wasting no time about the dismemberment of England. According to EU documents England is to be abolished and split into EU regions. Add to that yesterday the idea was being promoted that the English border town of Berwick should revert to the Scots after 500 years plus of being continuously in English hands.
How long before the first muslim 'ghetto'in this country seeks 'independence'? We have a lovely Archbishop who will fall over himself to help them on their way to sharia no doubt.
One thing springs to mind. Why Serbia and why England. Maybe it is German 'pay back' time!! Now what a thought? Couldn't possibly be the nasty hun at mischief yet again?
As for Rhodesia - a prosperous peaceful western style African democracy - now a hell hole of murder, corruption and brutality with South Africa heading into the same cesspit. Says it all really.

The struggle against Islam..... its funny the UK (the country, not noteworthy individuals) spits on them, humiliates them, but when its time to take up the "struggle", its ok the Serbs will do it. A large part of me Laments the death that will surely come to many of the innocent who do not deserve it yet the other cynical side says, let the Horde pass and let the "Real Europeans" have a taste of it. Nothing like having your children stolen from you and raised to hate your people as Janissaries. Maybe the UK would like 500 years of Muslim Benevolence.
I mean Churchill abandoned the Serbs to be swallowed up by Tito's Yugoslavia and when confronted about it he snorted,"Why do you care, you don't live there?" now there is a culturally bankrupt, morally backwards group amongst them that helped vote that coward Tadic into office who also now spit at Kostunica for denying them their Socialist rations, the curdled and decaying sustenance from which they know no other master. And to top it all off they are about to lose one of the most culturally significant part of their country, a part that may have healed the dunderheads referenced above once they were allowed to rekindle that part of them that mattered a whit.
and now you need them against the "struggle" why should they die so readily at the Gates of Hell? For those who live on their Island so far away from the front or across the ocean in the land of the "Free"? There is a part of me that says let them die for their country if they can sacrifice Serbia at the Altar.
In the end though that part of me will lose, I can't bear to see the suffering of any people, maybe the world will be lucky and the Serbs will deign them worthy of a third(fourth? I've lost count) go into the breach... but the way things are going I seriously doubt there will be enough True Serbs left when the time comes.
Hey when they are long gone maybe their language will be resurrected like Latin and given a purpose like Medicine... Not likely if the Horde wins they will go the way of those 150 churches in Kosovo, but hey they were a nice people we read about them in the history books, they had a quaint concept of Inat, that caused them to be very stubborn... but that really wasn't enough after they were abandoned and sacrificed... too bad I hear there is an Entry there about them having some very amazing food I think they called it Chevap Chee Chee.... funny sounding food I wonder what it tasted like.
