Putin: Europeans Should be Ashamed

President Putin, 2008 Press Conference

Shame on You, Europeans!

Speaking to a record 1,364 journalists at his annual presidential press conference in Kremlin on February 14, which lasted 4 hours and 40 minutes, Russian President Vladimir Putin once again stressed that “support for unilateral declaration of independence of Kosovo is immoral and illegal.”

“The territorial integrity of states is enshrined in the fundamental principles of international law. UN Security Council resolution 1244 speaks about the territorial integrity of Serbia, and all UN members must respect those decisions,” President Putin said.

“I don't want say anything that would offend anyone, but for 40 years northern Cyprus has practically existed as an independent state,” Putin said. “Why aren't you recognizing it? Aren't you ashamed, Europeans, for having such double standards for the same issues in different parts of the world?!” wondered Russian President.

Why Not Support Separatists Everywhere, Not Just in Serbia?

“We have Abkhazia, South Ossetia, Trans-Dniester, existing as independent states. And all the time they keep saying Kosovo is "a special case". That's a lie, there are no special cases, and everyone knows it. It’s all the same, ethnic conflicts, crimes on both sides, de facto complete independence,” said Putin.

The Russian president said that a united approach had to be developed, which Russia advocated, to deter separatism, rather than encourage it:

“We should formulate common principles to address these issues. Why do we promote separatism? Well, in Spain, people do not want to live in a single state, then support the secession there. For 400 years Great Britain has been fighting for its territorial integrity in respect to Northern Ireland. Why? Why don't you support that [secession]? We have to have common principles. If we act on the so-called political expediency, serving political interests of individual countries, we will destroy international law and the world's order,” stressed Putin.

Russian president reiterated that the small countries cannot feel safe in today's world, where their interests are so obviously not protected by the international law.

Who Lacks What

Admired for his charm, sense of humor and straightforwardness, Russian president has once again fully justified his status of a most popular head of state in today's world. One would be hard pressed to find another top official capable of facing the entire worldwide media in such an open, honest and non-restrictive fashion, and come out of a five-hour marathon even more popular than before.

Though the entire press conference is worth reading as the most up-to-date snapshot of today's world and its main political players, my personal favorite is Putin's response to a comment by Billary Clinton, U.S. Senator and America's presidential candidate, who said that Russia's president "could not possess a soul as a former KGB officer".

To which Putin replied: “A state official should at least have brains.”

Comments

Shame? We, Europeans? C'mon, we can't be wrong because we're always right!
If somebody disagrees with us he either is a demon, or just does not understand the situation. :-/

"A state official should at least have brains"
President Putin of Russia has brains enough for European Union and dippy America.
It is a disgraceful shame for European Union and America to support a separatist group of ethnic Albanians in Kosovo and Metohija to create a criminal illegal narco people trafficking state on Serbia's sovereign territory.
What this says is that European Union and America have fallen to its lowest level in morals, in principle, in respecting international laws and respecting territorial sovereignty.
It says that European Union and America have no respect for the rights of Christian heritage or history.
We are reverting to the days of Hitler and the Nazi past.
Before it is too late, we must correct this injustice.
"Kosovo is Serbia" and this must never, and will never change.

Putin is right, its really a sickness that the people of the EMPIRE have. We all know what they do with cows that have hoof and foot. why cant we do the same to the minds of these people who are trying to ruin srbija! traitors may you burn in hell!. or get a job in pristina. zivela russia!.
СА ВЕРОМ У БОГА СЛОБОДА ИЛИ СМРТ
КОСОВО МЕТОХИЈИА ЈЕ СРБИЈА

Once again President Putin shows himself to be the most outstanding politician on the world stage. He is widely admired everywhere, not only in Russia, as posts in England and America always show.
That Kosovo be illegally recognised is bad enough, but to recognise a state which is already infamous for its international crime and its burgeoning jihadism is beyond comprehension. It is an act of sheer irrational and criminal madness not only upsetting the whole concept of sovereign integrity of all nation states but also putting at risk christians throughout Europe and beyond.
It is a terror state led by an indicted terrorist.
If this is the NWO then God help us. There will be no order except American Bombs dropped from 30,000 feet on defenceless people be they serbs or Iraqis or any unfortunate people seeking to be free.
Elizabeth

well, it's a bit late, EU approved the mission to Kosovo, the illegal independence it tommoro, there is no entery to EU, Tadic is even worse than Milosevic. If the Serbs wanna save them selvs i suggest u march to Beograd and demand death for tadic, or you can sit back and watch Serbia get smaller and smaller due to money hungrey politicians. Serbia was nothing but a testing ground for the New World Order. If there are any Serbs here on this blog that live in Serbia i suggest u WAKE UP, and fight for ur freedom or become a stupid, mindless slave to the New World Order masters.

Does an English translation of the press conference exist? I'd like to publish it on my blog.

It's Hillary - not Billary - Clinton. I read up on her past, and she's really out of a quite extreme, even borderline fascist, leftwing background. "All power to the state!" could be her motto. She's cold and cynical, and I hope she gets her a** kicked in the elections. She's certainly not the kind of person to complain about *others* lacking heart...

Oh. We have riots in Denmark. Muslim youth torches anything they deem an insult to their religion, such as garbage containers, cars, youth clubs, bridges, trench diggers, schools and - worst of all - a library!

Danish 'understanding' of Muslims and Islam is hitting the rock bottom. Where this will end is uncertain.

Firstly I must say that I'm a British Nationalist ... and by God I wish we had a leader with the quality of Vladimir Putin. Don't get me wrong: there's plenty Putin does and says that I don't like - but I appreciate he does and says those things for the benefit of his people and country. If only the Western countries' leaders were the same.

Now, to go off topic a little (though it is still about Serbia and the Kosovo problem), here is an article from the British paper 'The Guardian'. It is about as Lefty a paper as you can get here, aside from the lunatics that is, and seems to be wholly supportive of Kosovo independence, and seems to view Serbia as populated by evil people.

Serbian people reading this weblog would do well to read this article. You wont like it, and neither do I. But then take the time to read all the comments that follow the article, and you will soon enough see that even the readers of this paper are mostly against the independence of Kosovo and the demonisation of the Serbs that has been going on for so many years.

Do not think the British people are all against you. We're not; indeed, I would guess that a majority think you more sinned against than sinner. However, given that our idiot politicians gained 100% of the power in this country on the votes of just 22.8% of the people (it's the electoral system - hardly democratic), they just go ahead and do whatever they want regardless of the majority's wishes. No doubt we will remove them in time, and a government friendlier to Serbia (and hostile to the EU) will arrive. But it will take time, and in the meantime you must endure.

In the meantime, you can easily register to comment in that newspaper and say your own thing in comments on articles related to Serbia.

Just don't think the whole world hates you. We don't. We were mislead for many years by our politicians and media, but with the huge expansion of the internet in the past few years, we are learning to bypass those people and find things out for ourselves. I personally used to love the BBC - since getting a computer and learning things for myself, I have come to despise it.

Henrik,

YouTube has some video clips of the news conference, uploaded by RussiaToday.

For anybody interested in seeing the other side of the coin, instead of the constant western ones, I have found a link that might be of interest:

This will take you to a video describing the horrific crimes committed against Serbs by Croats, muslims and Albanians.

I am a Brit , but do not hold that against me Putin , where are your balls , throw the E.U. scum back to where they belong . You can escort them all the way to Brusells
if you wish .

It is time for WAR!

Serbs, demand Russian intervention, this cannot go unchecked. I will seek out a Greek response.
