Awarded the title of "Shooter of the Millennium" in 2000, Jasna Sekaric won another World Cup gold in Beijing on Wednesday
Serbia's Top Shooter Wins Another Gold
Chances are you haven't even heard of Jasna Sekaric (née Brajkovic), but the 43-year-old Serbian is one of the world's most successful athletes, with over 90 medals in major competitions in shooting, including the Olympic Games, European and World Championships, World Cups and Mediterranean Games.
Sekaric, who was elected world's best shooter of the year thrice (1990, 1994 and 2005) and awarded by the International Shooting Sport Federation the title of "Shooter of the Millennium" in 2000, won another World Cup gold in Beijing yesterday.
Red Star Athlete Club member, Serkaric said at the press conference she had great time at the Beijing ISSF World Cup competition where she won the 25m pistol, and considers such top competitions the best preparation for the upcoming Olympic Games.
"I am very happy that I won today. Since the last year I was never able to win the World Cup which I believe is the best preparation for the Olympic Games," said Sekaric after winning her 15th World Cup gold medal.
One of Serbia's favorite athletes of all times, Sekaric started shooting pistol at the end of 1983. Ever since, her training was only interrupted by the pregnancy and the 78-day NATO bombardment.
A mother of a ten-year-old girl and a six-year-old boy, she said her family gave her great support.
"I didn't change my training schedule after becoming a mother," she said, adding that "they (the kids) are not so young any more... so I can train every day."

Great maybe we can send her to Kosovo when the bullets start flying.

She isn't just a great athlete, she also looks beautiful like all Serb women. Aside from that, I keep hoping the Serbs can avoid another war but the provocations just seem to be too many and too big. You definitely need to be ready but the army isn't what it was in 1998-99 when the KLA was shattered. There's still talk at times of foreigners who ended up as mercenaries for the terrorists (Slovenia, Croatia, BiH and in KiM) but I always wonder: would the Serbs be surprised if some young foreigners did the same but on their own side, should there be another conflict? I am at least pleased to see that a journalist from this country (Italy) has the courage to tell the whole truth about KiM. Small comfort! Sve najbolje!!!
