Behind the Scene

Ruecker and Rossin Played the Devil's Advocate Behind the Scene
"The new UN Mission in Kosovo [UNMIK] leadership must inform the UN Security Council members in detail about all of their activities, in order to avoid repeating the brutal violations former UNMIK chief Joachim Ruecker has committed", Russia's Ambassador to the United Nations Vitaly Churkin said in New York, as reported by the Itar-Tass news agency.
Following the UN Security Council session about Serbian province of Kosovo and Metohija, Churkin explained that Ruecker and his American deputy Larry Rossin had "attempted to illegally transfer part of the authority and assets to the European Union mission, circumventing the UN Security Council".
"The behind-the-scene games former UNMIK leadership played are unacceptable. They were doing this not only behind the UN Security Council back, but also behind the back of the UN Secretariat", Russia's permanent representative in the UN said, adding that, still, the damage done thus far has not been too grave.
"The activities aimed at transferring UNMIK functions and assets to the unlawful EU mission have been successfully terminated. We are proceeding on the basis of understanding that the new UN Mission leadership and the Secretariat will work transparently and will report to the UN Security Council members in detail about all their steps," Churkin said.
