West Solely Responsible

US/EU Abominable Offspring: Independent Kosovo

Kostunica: Duplicitous West Needs to Claim Responsibility for the Consequences of its Actions

President of the Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) Vojislav Kostunica, in a statement given to Belgrade media yesterday, assessed the latest events have proven southern Serbian province of Kosovo and Metohija is indeed far from being "a special case", and the dangerous virus of the illegal, unilaterally declared independence by the Pristina separatists is bound to hurt a number of states in future.

Former Serbian prime minister stressed that "French President Sarkozy's claim that Kosovo is 'a special case', meaning that out of all the states in the world only Serbia's sovereignty and territorial integrity may be freely violated, represents a continuation of a deeply flawed policy run by the European Union."

"Since the EU simultaneously ran duplicitous policy of destroying Serbia's territorial integrity on the one hand, while protecting Georgia's territorial integrity on the other, it was inevitable for such policy to backfire, seriously damaging the international order, jeopardizing peace and stability in the world", Kostunica said.

He added that it was "now evident Kosovo is not a unique case and a dangerous virus of the illegal Kosovo independence will hurt many countries throughout the world."

"What right to invoke the preservation of the principle of sovereignty and territorial integrity have the states which have brutally trampled this same principle when they recognized the unilateral independence of Kosovo and Metohija province?", Kostunica asked.

"The Western states which have conducted the policy of might over right and have violated the territorial integrity of Serbia bear the full responsibility for all the consequences which will be felt by a number of states confronted with problems similar to those Serbia has with its southern Province," Kostunica said.

Two Newborn States in the Caucasus Gain More International Recognition

According to Serbian news agency Tanjug, Nicaragua had issued official recognition of the independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia. Nicaragua President Daniel Ortega said late Tuesday before the leadership of the Nicaraguan Army that he supports Russian Federation in breaking out of the encirclement created by the Western military alliance.

"The government of Nicaragua recognizes the independence of the republics of South Ossetia and Abkhazia, and we fully agree with the Russian government's position that the conflict may end through dialogue with the European countries," said Ortega.

According to the DPA, Ortega expressed support for Russia in the face of a "plan to encircle the Russian Republic."

"World peace is being threatened by hegemonist, rash policies, because the Soviet Union disappeared and they went about promoting the break-up of nations that had a great unity that had been established with great effort," Ortega added.

Recognition of the two newborn states in the Caucasus is also expected from Belarus and some ten other states.

Let Nato-US-EU go back to the drawing board.
Kosovo and Metohija is indeed Serbia ----
AND South Ossetia and Abkhazia will prove it.
Let's stop the double-standards, the hate-speech and the media lies and parroting dribble against the Serbian nation and the attack on the Russians.
Kostunica is correct, and the virus is spreading, and Nato-US-EU is to blame for the infection.
My Anglo friends were staying out of politics on Serbia until they saw the hypocrisy and double-standards being played out by the West over Georgia. Now they see the inadequacies of the West.

I think we have all forgot the US duplicity in regards to Mexico didnt the US annex Texas, New Mexico, California Etc when they reffered to attacks on US settlers in those states left the Us no altenative but to go to war with Mexico and later annex those territories. Is that not the exact same situation Russia has gone through except they gave independence instead of annexing Georgia's territories. The US is riddled with so many double standards, should they now give back these territories before it can be seen judging Russia, so many referals by the Western bloc politicians saying Yalta agreements are outdated and cannot be veiwed as binding but is not the treaty with Mexico older even fossilised in comparison. The cancer that is the NWO needs to be wiped of the planet if the planet is going to have a chance to live in peace.

What I find surprising about the analyses on the Kosovo-Abkhazia-South Ossetia parallel is that nobody looked at the question from the rebels' point of view.

Consider.

1. The Yugoslav security forces were well on the way to crush them, and they managed to achieve their goals only through massive foreign intervention. Much the same thing in the Georgian provinces, although the original Russian intervention was perhaps not as massive.

2. Only further (and this time truly massive) intervention could stop the Georgian government's fairly determined offensive to reassert its authority.

3. If Serbia were to launch a similarly determined offensive in Kosovo, only another truly massive foreign intervention could stop it.

4. Today Pristina can probably count on such intervention - but tomorrow?

So, If I were sitting in Pristina, I would be worried about the future.

You are quite right; the position of the Kosova Albanians is very precarious. All the more so since international law does them no favours.

If the territorial integrity of states is to be respected, then an independent Kosova is impossible. If respect for territorial integrity is no longer an international requirement, then it does not matter if Kosova is “recognised” by the entire world, all that matters is the Albanians ability and readiness to defend their self-declared borders.

If Serbia is militarily stronger than the Kosovo Albanians then, one day, it will retake this territory. Like all other states, Serbia would no longer be under any obligation to respect the territorial integrity of Kosova or any other "independent" country.

After 9 years in power and billion of Euros in subsidies, the Kosova Albanians are still unable to secure regular electricity supplies. I suspect that the organisation of an army is way beyond their abilities.

Looked at many perspectives, an independent Kosova is an impossibility.

Michael, "Kosova" does not exist.

I think comments which use the terrorist spelling for the Serbian province shouldn't be published at all. Michael's comment sounds like a provocation to me. He knows all that, but doesn't know Kosovo is spelled with three o's? I don't buy that.

Lazar is right, Kosova doesn't exist... it is simply the Albanian (bastardised) version of the name Kosovo (and English speakers should refrain from using the word Kosova because the correct English name is Kosovo.) Notice how Kosovo means something in Serbian but Kosova means nothing in Albanian.

Other then that, Michael is 100% right.

Yea dude its KOSOVO not KOSOVA, only someone with a burnt pigeon flag would spell it that way.
KOSOVO with an O
Not KOSOVAsshole
СА ВЕРОМ У БГОА СЛОБОДА ИЛИ СМРТ

Dear Friends

No provocation was intended in my use of the Albanian "Kosova;" I merely thought it was useful to distinguish between the Albanian entity and the Serbian one. In future I shall only refer to Kosovo.

Sure, any comment that doesn't spell the name of Serbia's southern province right shouldn't be published or should be corrected, no question.

Of course, the very best idea would be to find in each comment the full name of the province but what can I say....I may be one of the very few non-Serbs who always writes the province's full name when mentioning it.

I just do it out of respect for all good Serbs. I'm quite a bit disgusted by the coming recognition by Belarus of South Ossetia and Abkhazia.

We never know....if another revolution took place and had success in Belarus, maybe similar recognitions could loom.

Now that would be seriously disgusting (and of course the people there would never forgive any government, should it take such a step).

I am with you on this guys but lets give some slug and the benefit of the doubt to someone who dont know the deference and explain before names are called, and actually will someone tell me also what KOSOVO means in Serbian?
We dont want to go down to american mentality and low level intelligence as they actually thing that calling names and making cheap comments is civilize and educated way to carry on a conversation.
Most of them kind of remind me monkeys. Who mimic the attitude according to what movie they watch trying to be in.
As for US/UK/Israel duplicity we have many examples and I think the only thing we want to show them is not with words but by example. Our grandfathers used to say DO WHAT IS BEEN DONE TO YOU AND HOLD NO HATE IN YOUR HEART. So lets show them what goes around comes around.
